Tariq Marghoob | Born Whole — The Journey Back Begins Here

You were born whole.

Before the classroom. Before examinations. Before labels.

You already possessed an innate intelligence, a natural curiosity, a limitless imagination and an authentic sense of self. Education was never meant to replace these gifts. It was meant to awaken them.

The most important question education can ask

Humanity has never had more information. The greater challenge is cultivating people who can think deeply, create courageously, lead wisely, connect compassionately and live with purpose.

Not “What should we know?” but “Who are we capable of becoming?”

This is the digital home of the Born Whole Movement, where intellectual excellence is balanced with emotional wisdom, social responsibility meets personal growth, and learning becomes a lifelong journey of awakening rather than accumulation.

His honours include the Bharat Samman, recognition from the Ministry of Education, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, the Sports Authority of India, and the Pride of India Award at the House of Lords, London.

“We are not born empty. We are born whole. Education should help us remember who we already are—not convince us that we are incomplete.”

More than a book. The beginning of a movement.

Who does Born Whole speak to?

Born Whole speaks to anyone who influences how human potential is understood, nurtured or limited.

For StudentsYour abilities were never defined by marks or expectations.

Discover that your abilities are not defined by marks, labels or other people's expectations. Born Whole invites students to understand their own potential, think differently and move beyond the limitations they may have unconsciously accepted.

For ParentsEvery word and comparison shapes what a child believes is possible.

Understand how everyday words, expectations, comparisons and beliefs can shape a child's perception of what is possible. Born Whole encourages parents to look beyond performance and help children protect their curiosity, confidence and innate intelligence.

For TeachersTeaching the learner, not only the subject.

Look beyond teaching the subject and towards understanding the learner. Born Whole explores how education can either reinforce limitations or awaken curiosity, confidence, independent thinking and the intelligence already present within every child.

For School LeadersRethinking what a truly developmental school can be.

Rethink what a truly developmental school can be. Born Whole offers a perspective that moves beyond academic achievement towards the intellectual, social and personal development of the whole learner.

For ProfessionalsReconnecting with possibilities narrowed by experience.

Reconnect with the possibilities that may have been narrowed by experience, conditioning or self-imposed limitations. Born Whole extends the conversation beyond childhood and asks what happens when adults begin to rediscover the intelligence and potential they were born with.

For PolicymakersEducation measured by potential, not only outcomes.

Consider education and human development not merely in terms of curriculum, examination and measurable outcomes, but in terms of the human potential that education is meant to nurture. Born Whole opens a wider conversation about how systems can either preserve or awaken innate human possibility.

How We Lose Our Inner Intelligence — and How to Find It Again

What if some of the limitations you carry were never really yours?

Before you read this chapter, pause for a moment and ask yourself: when did you first learn that something was “not for you”?

Perhaps the limitation was never a lack of intelligence, ability or potential. Perhaps you simply learned to say “No” before you discovered what was possible. This is where the journey from NO to NOW begins.

Chapter One — From Perception to Possibility

How the Mind Learns to Say No — and How It Learns to Say Now

The complete text of Chapter One will appear here, exactly as written in the final manuscript. Please share the chapter file or pasted text so it can be placed in full, beginning with “FROM PERCEPTION TO POSSIBILITY” and continuing through its closing reflection.

You were born whole.
The journey back begins here.

If this chapter made you pause, question or remember something about yourself, the rest of the journey awaits inside Born Whole.

More Than a Book. The Beginning of a Movement.

Born Whole: How We Lose Our Inner Intelligence—And How to Find It Again

Born Whole is not another self-help book. It is an invitation to remember the intelligence that already exists within you. Through stories, neuroscience, psychology, education and the ISPD Framework, it shows why children and adults lose confidence, not because they lack ability, but because they forget who they are.

Mastering the Future Today

Changing Paradigms: A Practical Guide to Boost Children's Cognitive Skills, Creativity & Raising Them to Be Responsible, Respectful and Resourceful.

Mastering the Future Today book cover mockup

Self-esteem is your child's passport to lifetime mental health and social happiness. It is the foundation of a child's well-being and the key to success as an adult.

This book describes the characteristics and consequences of children's interest-based participation in everyday learning activities, and includes a framework illustrating how such participation in everyday family and community activities promotes child learning and development. Strategies are described for identifying and using children's interests as the basis for promoting learning and development.

Though developing personality in children is a slow and steady process, with proper patience parents can definitely get it through. This book will also help parents and teachers learn more about how to promote children's personal and social development — self-awareness, self-esteem, relationships with others, independence, social responsibility — and boost cognitive abilities and skills.

This will help them believe that they are not limited, and that whatever the mind can conceive and believe can be achieved — so that their academic, professional, physical, emotional, volitional, spiritual and relational life is in harmony with the real self, allowing them to lead a balanced, fulfilled and significant life.

BORN WHOLE

How We Lose Our Inner Intelligence—and How to Find It Again

Every Child Begins Whole

What if intelligence isn’t something we acquire…
What if it is something we gradually forget?
Born Whole explores how fear, comparison, labels, and conditioning quietly replace curiosity with self-doubt—
and how awareness can restore the intelligence that was always there.
Instead of teaching people to become someone new…
this book helps them remember who they already are.

About the author

Tariq Marghoob

Founder of the ISPD Framework.

Placeholder

Tariq Marghoob has spent two decades asking the one question most educators are afraid to ask: What if the child is not the problem? Across the conflict-scarred valleys of Kashmir and the rural plains of Haryana, he has built two schools — Free Birds International in Srinagar and Som Gurukul Group in Haryana — on a conviction that runs counter to everything conventional education assumes: that children do not arrive broken. They arrive whole. What diminishes them is not a lack of intelligence — it is the slow, steady erosion of their trust in it. “The task of education is not to fill children with content. It is to protect the wholeness they already carry.” This belief gave rise to the ISPD Framework — Intellectual, Social, Personal, and Developmental intelligence — created in partnership with renowned psychiatrist Dr. Mushtaq Margoob. Adopted by the Government of J&K’s Directorate of School Education, piloted across Srinagar’s government high schools, and used to train over 500 teachers across the region, the Framework is the intellectual spine of this book. For two years, Marghoob delivered 300 live segments on Doordarshan Kashmir — bringing these ideas into the homes of thousands of parents and educators whose questions, year after year, shaped every page of No to Now. He has spoken at the House of Lords, the International Children’s Film Forum, and forums across India, Qatar, and Europe — and has carried the ISPD Framework into conversations with ambassadors and education ministers from the UK, Canada, and Russia. His honours include: • Bharat Samman Award — NRI Pravasi Divas 2010 • NRI Institute Pride of India Award 2017, House of Lords, London • Bharat Shiromani Award 2018–19, presented by Lord Swraj Paul • BRICS Educational Award • Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Education, Training & Development No to Now is his third book — and his most personal. It is the distillation of everything two decades of watching children lose and reclaim themselves has taught him: that the voice you have been waiting for was never missing. It was only waiting to be trusted. He lives and works between Kashmir and Haryana, building schools, training minds, and writing the books he wishes someone had written sooner.

You Were Born Whole.

Not broken.
Not incomplete.
Not behind.
Only waiting to remember.
